Twin Disc is located at 1328 Racine Street in Racine, WI. Hunzinger Construction Company was hired to serve as construction manager/general contractor for a 2,000 SF addition designed by Butterfield, Rudie & Seitz Architects of Racine.
Hunzinger was hired to erect a new addition to the occupied and fully operational Twin Disc facility in Racine. Since 1918, Twin Disc has been developing, engineering, manufacturing and distributing power transmission and propulsion products that make things that work – work better. Where there’s a heavy-duty vehicle, machine or marine craft that requires converting horsepower to propulsion or productivity, Twin Disc probably has a way to do it. Twin Disc continues to grow and most recently had the need to expand its Racine facility with the addition of manufacturing space that Hunzinger helped them create.
Twin Disc Second Addition Hunzinger construction Company served as construction manager/general contractor for the 5,000 SF project.
Hunzinger completed a second addition for Twin Disc at the company’s headquarters in Racine. The research and development lab and testing areas feature structural steel framing, reinforced concrete masonry walls, and high clearance bays to accommodate an overhead crane and product testing areas within the space. Hunzinger served as construction manager for the project and also self-performed the concrete, masonry and carpentry trade work.
This was a very memorable job because weeks into the project, after we had already poured the footings, Twin Disc changed equipment suppliers for their engine testing equipment. This meant that we had to be very nimble and change on the fly. We had to quickly and accurately make adjustments to our plans for the electrical conduit equipment feeds under concrete floor that contained recessed steel bed plates. Our field personnel really showed great flexibility and skill to make the needed adjustments and stay within the project schedule. We managed to complete the project on time and the owner was very satisfied.
