Intern Spotlight: Kenna Skaggs
Every internship is an opportunity to learn, grow, and gain a deeper understanding of the industry, and Kenna has made the most of her summer with the Hunzinger team. As an Estimating Intern, she’s gained valuable insight into the estimating process, strengthened her communication skills, and developed a better understanding of how preconstruction connects to the work that ultimately takes place in the field.
Here’s what Kenna had to say about her experience:
“During my summer internship in estimating, I learned just how important every detail on the drawings is and how important communication is, both within our team and with subcontractors. Building relationships with subcontractors is essential because the work we estimate needs to translate into the field. Overall, the internship gave me a better understanding of the estimating process and how it connects to the construction of a project.
My advice for future interns would be to ask lots of questions throughout the summer and take advantage of every opportunity to learn from those around you who have years of knowledge and experience. A large part of why I love Hunzinger is because everyone, both on site and in the office, is so willing to take those extra few minutes to answer your questions with clarity, thought, and care. Everyone genuinely wants to see you succeed in your journey.”
Thank you, Kenna, for sharing your experience with us! We’re glad to have you on the team this summer and look forward to seeing all you accomplish.
