Johnson Controls, Inc. Worldwide Headquarters Parking Deck Addition is located at 5757 North Green Bay Avenue in Glendale, WI.  Hunzinger Construction Company was hired to serve as Construction Manager for the 160,000 SF, 4 level addition to the existing 419 stall, 150,231 SF, 4 level parking deck we built three years earlier.  Gensler, a global design firm with offices in Chicago, served as the architect.

As part of the Johnson Controls World Headquarters Campus Expansion completed in 2009, a new 4-level, 419 stall parking deck was constructed.  Accommodating future vertical expansion was part of the original project program and Hunzinger was brought back to add 4 additional levels to the precast structure.  Hunzinger’s team worked diligently with the owner, subcontractors and suppliers on this project where safety, logistics, sequencing, and staging were paramount because we were working in an occupied campus and fast tracked the construction.  The project was completed in just 6 months.  A total of 503 individual precast pieces were erected through the use of a unique 550-ton crane with extensive counter-weight and rigging assemblies that are adjusted and customized for each pick.  The expanded parking deck is over 300,000 SF and can accommodate over 840 cars.

Projects such as this only work when the leaders for the stakeholders communicate with each other on a meaningful level regarding expectations and overall vision. We always felt your team was willing and interested in sharing our ideas and for that we are grateful.
