Wheaton Franciscan Lilly Road Clinic is located at 13950 West Capitol Drive in Brookfield, WI. Hunzinger was hired as the general contractor for this extensive healthcare renovation project and self-performed demolition, concrete, masonry and rough and finish carpentry work. Eppstein Uhen Architects based in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward served as the project designers.
The Wheaton Franciscan Lilly Road Clinic project was a 12,000 square foot renovation to the first floor of an existing 2-story medical office building to create two separate physician suites. The renovation included a new entrance, new waiting areas, reception desks, nurse’s stations and exam rooms. We completed the demolition and renovation of the first floor of existing facility while other floors in the building remained open and fully operational. Maintaining public access required having patients and clients traveling through the active construction work but we used covered walkways along with extensive and clear signage and lighting to keep everyone safe throughout all phases of the project.
Working in an occupied space is always a challenge that requires special care but when you are working in occupied medical facilities, you have to be extra vigilant to ensure that the public and patients are not adversely affected by any of the work we are doing. Making sure that our work areas are sealed off and that the surrounding areas remain clean is paramount. I am so proud of our track record of working within occupied spaces.
