Waukesha Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit located at 725 American Ave, Waukesha, WI. Hunzinger Construction Company served as general contractor and self-performed demolition and carpentry work on the ICU renovation at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Eppstein Uhen Architects based in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward served as project designers.
The 13,500 square foot health care renovation work included finish upgrades to the flooring, ceilings and paint throughout, new and laminate overlays of patient room cabinetry, replacement of existing patient room sliding glass doors with new wood swing doors, and new nurse server cabinets for each of the fully functional 24 patient rooms within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The main ICU arena nurse station was removed and new work station casework was installed, completing the total gut of the hub of the ICU wing. Work was done in four separate phases to maintain the required bed counts and full functionality of the remaining ICU beds throughout the entire duration of the project. The ICU for Waukesha Memorial Hospital services patients with the most severe and life threatening injuries. State-of-the-art equipment and medicine is used to treat patients in need of close monitoring.
