Waukesha Memorial Hospital Wound Care Clinic is located at 725 American Avenue in Waukesha, WI. Hunzinger Construction Company was engaged as general contractor on a 2,800 square foot interior renovation project at Waukesha Memorial Hospital to relocate and enhance their previous Wound Clinic. The project was designed by Eppstein Uhen Architects, based in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.

Originally constructed as a medical office building and converted to an I-2 Hospital occupancy, the Wound Clinic accommodates inpatients as well as outpatients in the new clinic. As part of the overall conversion to an I-2 occupancy, the adjacent patient, visitor and staff access corridor required fireproofing to the existing above ceiling structure. Through detailed pre-planning, multiple shift work, and phased construction sequencing, this vital access corridor was able to remain open throughout the entire project. The new clinic includes four new exam rooms, reception/waiting area, hyperbaric chambers, private offices, restrooms and a nurse’s station. Hyperbaric Chambers are used in conventional healthcare treatment for decompression sickness, severe carbon monoxide poisoning, certain kinds of wounds, injuries, and skin infections, delayed radiation injury, and certain bone or brain infections.
