Park Lafayette Apartments is located at 2026 North Prospect Avenue on Milwaukee’s East side. Hunzinger Construction Company served as Construction Manager for the two, 20-story residential towers containing 282 units, 10 townhouse units and a six-level underground parking structure designed by Pappageorge Haymes Architects of Chicago.
To build the underground parking structure and foundation system for the towers, a customized earth retention system consisting of soil nails and shotcrete was installed in five-foot lifts on all sides of the excavation. The project embraced green building methods and sustainable aspects including a Terrace Level Green Roof, storm water detention basins, C&D waste recycling, extensive daylighting and storage for over 100 bikes. This is to encourage residents to use public transportation and nearby bike trails. Hunzinger’s LEED AP’s on the project team also implemented construction activity pollution prevention and water efficient landscaping.
The location of the buildings, at Prospect Avenue and Lafayette Street near downtown Milwaukee, offers residents spectacular views of the city and Lake Michigan and is a prime location near great shopping and dining.
