Overview

Our Story

It was 1907. Teddy Roosevelt was in the White House. The financial markets were shaky and the building of the Panama Canal was underway. Henry Ford was working on his Model T, which would roll out a year later.

In Iowa, four brothers decided to quit farming and start a construction company. John, Frank, Fred, and Charles Hunzinger thus formed J.H. Hunzinger and Company, and began building one-room schoolhouses and homes. Pre-World War I, construction was performed with machinery developed during America's industrialization, but much was still done manually. The Hunzinger brothers often used mule teams to do everything from hauling materials to digging basements.

Twenty-one years later (1928), one year before the stock market crash and in the midst of the frivolity of the Roaring 20's, Frank and Fred Hunzinger moved to Milwaukee and initiated a new construction firm - Hunzinger Construction Company. Together, they took on new projects, first building schools and churches, and later office buildings and manufacturing plants. Their successful survival and considerable growth subsequent to The Great Depression years allowed the company to expand, completing projects from Minnesota to Texas.

Today, Hunzinger Construction Company is an experienced construction management, general contracting, and design/build firm. We've come a long way since 1907, having completed thousands of diverse projects. Down through the years, we have always offered our clients the highest quality and most modern technology available in the industry.
