The Miller Caves  is located at 4251 West State Street, Milwaukee in the heart of “Miller Valley” owned and operated by MillerCoors.  Hunzinger Construction Company was hired as the General Contractor for this renovation and repair project of the historic Miller Caves. Built at 60 feet below ground level, the caves were created in 1849 to keep beer cool prior to distribution.  By the mid-20th Century, the caves were no longer used for refrigeration and were later turned into a museum.

This cave project involved repairs through reinforcement and a shotcrete liner for the existing Tunnel Link. Electric power was relocated, new and upgraded HVAC and sound systems for the museum were installed, and new sump crocks with pumps were added. The project scope also called for the removal and restoration of the wrought iron fence, replacement of slate floor pavers, and miscellaneous drywall and paint repairs throughout. The Miller Caves is one of the highlights of the MillerCoors Brewery tour and truly captures the history of Milwaukee’s storied brewing past.
