Hyatt Regency Hotel is located at 333 West Kilbourn Avenue in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. Hunzinger Construction Company served as the general contractor for this 21-story, 484 room luxury hotel designed by Py-Vavra Architects-Engineers.

Hunzinger Construction built this hotel, banquet facility, and home to some award winning restaurants using the fast-track construction method and completed it in just eighteen months. According to the Hyatt Corporation, this Hyatt Hotel was the first finished ahead of schedule. A unique feature of this hotel is the revolving rooftop restaurant that brings the excitement of the Milwaukee skyline to your table. One of our primary challenges was constructing this large hospitality facility on a very tight site in a downtown urban area but with a highly proactive and coordinated delivery schedule, we successfully completed the project to numerous accolades. The poured concrete structure received many awards including “Concrete Structure of the Year.”

When we started that job, it was cold, a very cold winter and we were racing the weather to get this impressive hotel built.  Our great field engineering help keep to project moving along to the point where we completed the hotel ahead of schedule.  In fact it was the only Hyatt completed ahead of schedule at that time.  We used an innovative system of tunnel forms, typically used in European countries, which allowed us to form and pour the concrete at a quick pace.  The team worked together, moving rapidly but safely, and with high strength and quality results.
