Harley-Davidson Big Twin Expansion is located at W156 N9000 Pilgrim Road in Menomonee Falls, WI. Hunzinger Construction Company served as construction manager for the renovation of 393,000 SF of existing space and the construction of a 20,000 SF new addition. Eppstein Uhen Architects based in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward were the project designers.

The Big Twin Expansion Project was a large industrial remodel that expanded Harley-Davidson’s powertrain manufacturing operations into the adjoining vacant space previously occupied by Briggs & Stratton and originally built by Hunzinger. The primary scope of the project included major interior shipping/receiving area modifications, as well as, mechanical and electrical infrastructure extensions. A small addition was also built to incorporate a new 8,736 SF Health and Wellness Center. The center features a fitness area, aerobics room, locker room, toilet rooms, and a wellness center. The wellness center includes four treatment rooms, an exam room, record storage room and three offices. Parking areas on the east side of the facility were increased to accommodate the new employee entrance and a storm water dry pond was constructed to handle the additional impervious runoff generated from the project.

“The performance from the Hunzinger team has been outstanding. Their ability to provide detailed and accurate construction estimates for numerous alternatives while in the course of design has been an invaluable asset to the decision making process at Harley-Davidson. Moreover, the performance of work to the estimates and schedules really tell the story. The team provided by Hunzinger for this project have performed exceptionally in the face of constant changes and requests made by Harley-Davidson, last minute changes in production schedules, and more severe than normal winter conditions.”
