Building The Future Together

In keeping with Hunzinger’s high standard for quality craftsmanship, almost 25 years ago, we established a company-wide Total Quality Management Program called Q3. Q3 simply reinforces our mission statement of “Do the Right Thing” when dealing with employees, subcontractors/suppliers and clients. As part of our Q3 initiative, we solicit nominations from our clients, subcontractors, and fellow employees who have demonstrated an exemplary dedication to excellence.

The Q3 Event was held January 25th at The Improv at The Corners of Brookfield. Ryan O’Toole served as MC. He kicked off the event by recognizing that while we were all happy to be together were missing Kevin O’Toole. He said that we are grateful for his example and mentorship and his lasting legacy. He announced that we were introducing the

Kevin O’Toole Q3 Community Service Award.

We are honoring KOT by acknowledging his commitment to excellence.  After much discussion and consideration, we decided that we wanted to keep this award special, only one employee acknowledged a year, and we wanted to connect it to Community Service since volunteerism and service were such a large part of Kevin’s life. Every year moving forward, we will solicit nominations just like we do for the scholarships, looking to the field and the office for an employee that has donated time to an organization they care deeply about. The employee selected will receive a $500 donation made to the charity they have been supporting.

This inaugural year, we have selected Dave Dell’Agnese for all Dave’s work for The Boy Scouts of America Potawatomi Area Council Waukesha, WI. He serves on the Executive Board as their VP Programs and has served in leadership positions for Troop 183. He has coordinated an annual Boy Scout event where they collect and box items for Hunzinger’s Troop Shipment Program, introducing the Boy Scouts to continued appreciation of our troops serving overseas. He has been a troop leader and guide for young men becoming Eagle Scouts for over almost 15 years. Over a dozen young men under his guidance have become Eagle Scouts, including his own son later next month. Dave has led countless Boy Scout camping trips to Camp Long Lake Scout Reservation. He is worthy to receive the first Kevin O’Toole Q3 Community Service Award.

Hunzinger Construction Company Awards Family Scholarship

As a family owned company whose owner’s value secondary education, an annual family scholarship fund was established that grants scholarships to children of employees attending any accredited college, university or trade school.  The completed scholarship applications are reviewed by a committee of Hunzinger employees who make the recommendations.  The applications include what school the applicant is attending and their field of study, who their parent is and what they do at Hunzinger, their past grades and extracurricular activities, any volunteer community service work they are involved in, past employment history and any special honors they may have received.  Applicants are also asked to submit an essay that captures their goals for the future or highlights their relationship to their parent who is a Hunzinger employee.  This year’s scholarship was announced at our Annual Q3 Awards Ceremony on January 25th at the Improv.  Watch for the Scholarship Nomination Applications in August!

This year’s award recipient was Lindsi Jensen who received a $1,500 scholarship. Lindsi is the daughter of 24 year Hunzinger Laborer Brian Jensen. She is a Freshman attending UW-Milwaukee where she is studying Criminal Justice in an accelerated Master’s program. In high school, Lindsi graduated with a National Honor’s Society Award and was accepted into the Wisconsin Legion Law Enforcement Career Academy.  We wish her the best in this admirable and much need professional field.
