Building The Future Together

INTERFAITH AIRPORT MEDITATION ROOM OF MILWAUKEE

Aviation / Commercial Interiors

The Interfaith Meditation Room is located within General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, adjacent to the 3N Skywalk. Hunzinger served as a self-performing General Contractor for the project. Plunkett Raysich Architects were chosen to design the meditation room.

Hunzinger performed all the rough and finish carpentry. The meditation room features curved glass and freestanding walls. The walls are constructed with steel posts within them. There is a small office within the space as well. Non-denominational messages in custom lettering decorate the exterior wall. Stained glass windows and wooden panels from the demolished St. Stevens Church were incorporated in the design.

The room is a place to stop for a moment of peace, reflection or prayer. It is not only for reflection but to make traveling a less stressful experience.

The Meditation Room Board Members represent a grass-roots effort of community, educators, spiritual leaders and healthcare professionals. They embraced the vision of a Meditation Room at the airport and took steps necessary for it to become a reality.
