Badger Meter World Headquarters located at 4545 West Brown Deer Road in Brown Deer, WI. Hunzinger Construction Company served as Negotiated General Contractor for this renovation and expansion of their headquarters that included building a 64,000 square foot addition. The project was designed by Plunkett Raysich Architects of Milwaukee.

Although it is an international company, Badger Meter’s corporate headquarters, engineering, sales and marketing, customer service, and manufacturing for selected products for the utility and industrial markets reside in Milwaukee. Badger Meter is the only American manufacturer of commercial and residential water meters. This project included new manufacturing space, a new hydro-lab for testing prototype water meters, new electric labs, Research & Development labs, model shop, life testing labs and a pilot plant.

As we were digging to begin construction on the very large reservoir that would be used to hold the water that would be used to test their water meters, we came across a high ribbon of bedrock, we didn’t even get 12 feet deep when we hit it. We had to act quickly and we worked with the excavation contractor to bring in a specialty subcontractor that would dynamite the bedrock from the ground. I can say that this project was the loudest job I ever worked on. We coordinated the team’s efforts and were able to keep the project on schedule, even though we had an obstacle that required us to literally blow up the site, we completed the job on time, on budget and without injury.
