Building The Future Together

Our crews are busy working on the Harley-Davidson Juneau Avenue Masonry Repair and Roof Parapet Replacement Project located at 3700 Juneau Avenue in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Hunzinger Construction Company was hired as the General Contractor to remove and reconstruct the existing parapets on the 3700, 3800 and 3900 buildings. The three buildings are 100+ years old and combine for a total of 1,500 linear feet of necessary parapet reconstruction. Strass-Maquire & Associates Inc., based in Mequon, WI, are the project engineers.

The parapet walls were showing their age, and each are being taken down to the top of the existing lintels, which is about 7 feet. Hunzinger is self-performing the demolition work and all concrete beam repair. KMI, LLC of Brookfield is the masonry subcontractor on the project, Langer is the roofing contractor and Ace Iron is the steel fabricator for the preservation of these historic buildings. Crews are working both first and second shifts, roughly 85 feet in the air on a combination of swing stages and conventional scaffolding. KMI is also utilizing a Hydro Mobile material lift along with a garbage shoot to help maximize productivity. Crews are using new bricks as the timeworn parapets were damaged by a century of exposure to the elements. The project is scheduled to be completed this November.
