Building The Future Together

We are very proud to join Larry Palank in celebrating 40 years of exemplary service at Hunzinger Construction Company.  Since 1977, Larry, has worked at Hunzinger, the last 20 as Vice President of Preconstruction and a Senior Estimator.  Larry is also a LEED AP BD+C with experience and knowledge that is unequalled in his field and this marketplace.

Larry joined Hunzinger after graduating from Milwaukee School of Engineering with a Bachelor of Architectural and Building Construction Engineering Technology and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.  He started out as a Field Engineer on the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Milwaukee and shortly thereafter moved into Project Management working on a number of Milwaukee Public Schools, Port Plaza, Pfister Hotel, Mayfair Mall and Lakeside Power Plant, to name only a few but about 35 years ago his true calling as an estimator pulled him from the field into the office.  Larry put his big brain and huge talents to work as an estimator focusing on conceptual estimating and preconstruction services.

An alumnus of MSOE, they took note of Larry’s incredible talents and he was invited to serve an Adjunct Professor in the Architectural Engineering and Construction Management Department.  Larry has been an important part of the MSOE faculty since 1990 and has shared his real world, real project estimating and construction experiences with students by teaching classes in Construction Estimating, Construction Economics/Financing, Construction Operations, Project Management I & II, and Construction Scheduling to undergraduates in MSOE’s Construction Management Degree Program, a program he helped create.  The CM program grew out of the Civil and Architectural Engineering Programs over 20 years ago.  Larry sat on the advisory committee that helped develop the specialty degree that has become one of the most rigorous and respected construction management programs in the Midwest.

Palank’s impact on the construction industry in Southeastern Wisconsin has been immense with his 40 years of projects too numerous to mention and his career has many highlights, particularly all the school districts and schools he has worked with like Pewaukee, Muskego-Norway, Germantown, Shorewood, Ripon, Elmbrook, Menomonee Falls, Fontana, University Lake School, University School of Milwaukee, Marquette University, MSOE, UW-Milwaukee among others.

In the 1990’s Larry’s work shaped major landmarks like the Wisconsin Center Convention Center, Miller Park and The Summerfest Grounds, having worked on all projects within Henry Meier Festival Park from the construction of the Marcus Amphitheater in 1987 to the most recent projects completed in time for the 50th Anniversary of Summerfest.
