Building The Future Together

Hunzinger Construction is proud to have been part of the team that delivered Make-A-Wish Wisconsin’s 5,000th wish to Hailee an 11 year old girl from Greendale, WI with a life threatening illness that requires daily treatments. Hailee’s wish was to have a clubhouse where she could be with her friends, away from the medical treatments, and just be a kid.

To make Hailee’s wish come true, a Make-A-Wish volunteer sat down with her and the talented wish granters at Hunzinger Construction and Eppstein Uhen Architects to discuss what the clubhouse might look like, she even drew a picture of what she envisioned. The design studios at EUA had a competition, each designing distinctly different houses. Hailee made her selection and the Hunzinger Construction team of 25 volunteers got to work building the 8 x 8 foot stylish clubhouse complete with bunk beds, windows with curtains, an upper level porch, flower boxes and even a chandelier which highlights the purple, pink and black appointed furnished interior.

We were fortunate to be a part of the joyous unveiling celebration with Hailee, her family and friends along with the wish sponsors Maggie’s Angels, who stage fundraisers in honor of wish kid Maggie Bye of Hartland, who died in 2008, and the family of Bella and Mia Giera of Waukesha, who raise money for wishes in lieu of getting birthday presents.

“This is everything I wanted times 100,” exclaimed an exuberant Hailee upon seeing the big reveal of the clubhouse.

“Seeing her face, the absolute delight, is so rewarding and it reminds us why we keep granting wishes. I am so proud of Hunzinger’s ongoing relationship with Make-Wish Wisconsin, ” said Kevin O’Toole Executive Vice President of Hunzinger Construction and National Make-A-Wish Board Member.
