CONGREGATION SHALOM SCULPTURES

Community Partners

Congregation Shalom Sculptures are located at 7630 N. Santa Monica Boulevard in Fox Point, WI. Hunzinger Construction Company was hired as the general contractor for the site preparation, foundation pours, and the erection of these two 25 foot tall magnificent metal sculptures entitled, Pillar of Cloud, Pillar of Fire. Congregant Richard Edelman was commissioned to create a work that represented text from The Book of Exodus which states that when the Israelites wandered through the wilderness they were led by a Pillar of Cloud by Day and a Pillar of Fire by Night.

The sculptures are constructed of stainless steel, stand twenty five feet and weight together approximately 17,000 pounds. Both structures utilize repeated images of the Hebrew character SHIN which stands for God.  A not-for-profit fund was established and the sculptures were a gift from Richard and Nina Edelman, Joan Edelman Spero and C. Michael Spero, Robert H. Edelman and Nancy Gorens Edelman, James Abraham Edelman and Susan Stern Edelman, and their 12 children and are dedicated in honor of Rabbi Ronald Shapiro and in memory of Sam and Sylvia Edelman.

Not only was the worked performed to the highest possible standards of safety and with special regard for the delicacy of the art objects, but the crews who worked on the projects were polite, interested, involved and concerned that their customer’s needs were met to the fullest.

It is amazing to me that in these not easy times in any industry Hunzinger Construction continues to build community and build bonds in so many very tangible ways.
