Building The Future Together

On Friday, September 12th , Hunzinger Construction Company and InPro Corporation hosted a “Lunch and Learn” session entitled: The Future of Green is Clear about the USGBC’s decision to codify Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Health Product Declarations (HPDs). This session was credit-worthy in the recently ratified LEED V4 rating system. Over 40 people attended this course presented by Evan Vane of InPro, a Muskego based manufacturer and supplier of wall and corner guards and expansion joint cover plates, which has grown into a leader in sustainability and green building practices since its founding in 1979. Inpro staff grilled out and provided a very delicious lunch for all attendees.

Facility managers and construction professionals from some of the area’s largest corporations joined us to learn that when it comes to building products in the ever-evolving field of sustainable design and construction, the industry is moving beyond simple tallies of things like recycled content and certified wood products. While still valuable measures, they are taking a back seat to declarations of the products’ impact on planetary and human health. Said another way, the design community is now expecting a much more encompassing view of a product’s sustainability and this presentation focused on how we got here, and what lies ahead for the endorsement of these EP and HP Declarations by the world’s leading sustainable building organization.
