Our last Troop Care Shipment of the year will be Friday, December 5th at 11AM at H2, 21050 Enterprise AvenueBrookfield, WI. The shipment will have a Christmas holiday theme and we will be looking for food items that are easy to prepare and carry. Ramen noodles, Easy Mac, beef jerky, gum, mints, trail mix and gorilla bars are heavily requested items. White tube socks are still needed but the requests for toiletries have steadily declined. Please feel free to drop off items any time between now and December 3rd.
For the 4th year, the Potawatami Area Council Cub Scout Pack 183, sponsored by Brookfield Academy, will be teaming up with Hunzinger Construction to hold a troop care shipment event on December 4th. The scouts purchase and collect items, write holiday cards and patriotic thank you letters and pack up individual boxes for shipment. Pack 183 has shipped over 250 boxes and set a record for the number of boxes they send each subsequent year. In 2013 Hunzinger expanded the invitation to all 6985 Council Cub Scouts who collect items for the shipment and bring them to Hunzinger for packaging and distribution. The Boy Scouts of America nominated Hunzinger for the United Way Community Partner of the Year Award for 2013 and Hunzinger was granted the award.
Hunzinger makes 5 shipments a year with over 40 tons of supplies sent to 100 military units on 20 bases since the program began in 2006. Attached is the list for the most requested items.
