Building The Future Together

Hunzinger was thrilled to receive the 2015 Deloitte Wisconsin 75 Distinguished Performer Community Award on Tuesday, October 6th. A recognition breakfast was held at Discovery World at Milwaukee’s Lakefront to honor the 75 companies who made this list this year. Five Distinguished Performer Awards were presented in the areas of community, entrepreneurship, environment, generations and people. The Distinguished Performer Community Award recognizes Hunzinger’s efforts to give back to the community. John Hunzinger accepted the award and spoke on the company’s behalf, quoting John Lennon to illustrate his philosophy of the importance of charitable giving:

“Saving up your money for a rainy day, giving all your clothes to charity. Last night the wife said, ‘Oh boy, when you’re dead you don’t take nothing with you but your soul.'”

Being actively involved in the community has provided everyone at Hunzinger the opportunity to partner with organizations whose mission is to help others. We have developed a robust community outreach program and encourage all employees to seek opportunities to participate. In keeping with our guiding principle, “Do the right thing,” some of the organizations Hunzinger has supported this year include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee, and the Troop Care Package Program. In addition, our Charity Jeans program raises money for local non-profit groups. Each month, employees suggest charities that they personally support and have the opportunity to donate funds to the selected charity. In exchange for participating and donating, employees are allowed to wear jeans on Mondays and Fridays. Hunzinger matches all employee-raised money, dollar-for-dollar. This is the fourth time that Hunzinger has received Deloitte’s Distinguished Performer Award since the program’s inception in 2003.
