Building The Future Together

As a family owned company whose owner’s value secondary education, an annual family scholarship award was established and awards two or three scholarships a year that can total $3,000 annually.  The scholarship is offered to children of employees attending any accredited college, university or trade school.  The completed scholarship applications are reviewed by a three member committee who make the recommendation.  The applications include what school the applicant is attending and their field of study, who their parent is and what they do at Hunzinger, their past grades and extracurricular activities, any volunteer community service work they are involved in, past employment history and any special honors they may have received.  Applicants are also asked to submit an essay that captures their goals for the future or highlights their relationship to their parent who is a Hunzinger employee.  The scholarships are announced at our Annual Q3 Awards Ceremony on October 30th.  This year we have three deserving recipients.

This year’s award recipients are:

Amanda Bruening, daughter of Superintendent Doug Bruening and a Freshmen at Carroll University in Waukesha is studying Criminology and hopes to use her expertise gained from her major to support her in forensic science or paralegal work after her college career. Amanda is a well-rounded student with a busy schedule of multiple credits, community service support and leadership positions. In her free time Amanda uses her talents as a singer at wedding ceremonies at her local Parish.

Emma Jansen, daughter of Project Executive Jon Jansen, and freshmen at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is undecided but has an interest in retail or nutritional sciences. In her application essay, Emma refers to how her dad’s commitment to Hunzinger and how it has influenced her life, “Seeing and experiencing my father’s commitment to Hunzinger has inspired me to strive for that commitment in my future. I want to have that sort of connection he does because I have seen what a positive impact it has on him.”

Chris Jansen, son of Project Executive Jon Jansen and Senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is studying Landscape Architecture. Chris plans to use his degree to propel him into a design level management position where he will continually be challenged in his design abilities. Chris interned at American Landscape in Menomonee Falls this past summer.
